What will I learn?

This part time course is intended for students who have completed the QQI Level 5 Special Needs Assistant course. This course builds upon the knowledge and skills that students gained from the QQI Level 5 Special Needs Assistant course.

How is this course taught?

This part time course is taught in person. Classes take place in the Castlemill Education Centre in Balbriggan. Classes are taught every second Saturday.

Work Experience Placement

Work experience is a core element of this programme. Students will be required to complete 30 hours of work experience throughout the module, which they will be required to organise themselves. Students must also be Garda Vetted.

When will this course take place?

This course will start in early September 2024 and will finish in November 2024 . Students will have holidays during the October midterm break.

Who can apply for this course?

Adults who live in the Fingal area, and who have already gained a QQI Level 5 SNA qualification, can apply for this course. Proof of completing a QQI Level 5 SNA course is required as part of the application process for this course.

Am I eligible for course funding?

Students on this course are eligible for funding if:

  • they are an early school leaver, or
  • they are receiving a social welfare payment, or
  • they are receiving a carer’s payment, or
  • they have a medical card or G.P. card, or
  • they are signing for credits.
