What will I learn?

This course provides students with the skills and qualification to work in a supervisory capacity as a room leader in a childcare environment.

How is this course taught?

This course is taught in person. Classes are taught in the Castlemill Education Centre in Balbriggan. Classes are taught two evenings per week, and on alternating Saturdays, for one academic year.

When will this course take place?

This course will start in September 2024 and finish in May 2025. Students will have holidays during midterm breaks, Easter and Christmas.

Who can apply for this course?

Adults who live in the Fingal area, and who have completed a FETAC Level 5 or QQI Level 5 Childcare course, can apply for this course. Proof of completing a Level 5 Childcare award is required as part of the application process for this Level 6 course.

Am I eligible for course funding?

Students on this course are eligible for funding if:

  • they are an early school leaver, or
  • they are receiving a social welfare payment, or
  • they are receiving a carer’s payment, or
  • they have a medical card or G.P. card, or
  • they are signing for credits.
