212 Create an image based on Beauty sector theme (moodboard project, enabling students to research within the beauty sector and advertising)
216 Salon reception duties (provide learner with knowhow on fulfilling reception duties within salon and supporting the therapist)
222 Head massage (practical class giving learners intro to basic massage movements and culminating in full head massage routine)
223 Apply skin tanning techniques (learn how to do spray tanning and various skills required for this)

What can I learn?

The aim of this programme is to enable candidates to work in the beauty sector and provide a range of beauty treatments in line with Health and Safety requirements and industry standards to clients in a spa, salon or similar environment. Treatments will include make-up application, eyebrow shaping, manicure and pedicure services and other practical beauty techniques. This is a great hands on practical and theory based course with industry recognised City and Guilds modules. The successful completion of the awards listed on this programme will enable applicants to work in the beauty sector and perform a range of beauty therapy treatments on clients in a spa or salon. The course is structured to provide students with a high standard of training and students will have the option to go on to do the QQI Level 5, Beauty Therapy.

How is this course taught?

This course is taught in person, over a 9 month period starting in September 2025. Start times are 9:15 and finish times 14:30 approximately, Monday to Friday, with one day assigned to work experience. The course follows as school calendar with mid-term, Christmas and Easter holidays.

When will this course take place?

The next course modules will start in September 2025 and finish in May 2026.

Who can apply for this course?

Eligible Adults (See eligibility below) who live in the Fingal and surrounding area can apply for this course. To ensure that you are offered a place on a course which is at the right level for you and appropriate to your learning needs all applicants are assessed prior to placement on the course. A high level of English language is required. IT skills are required for the course and an interest and aptitude for beauty.

Am I eligible for this course?

This course is funded under VTOS funding. In order to be eligible, applicants must be:

  • 21 or over the first day the course starts
  • in receipt of a Social Protection Payment for 6 months (156 days) immediately prior to starting the course. Please see the VTOS ‘Am I Eligible?’ section of FAQs for a list of qualifying social protection payments.
